After a ridiculous hiatus between the outdoorsy activeness of summer, the walking for Obama, and the laziness of the last few weeks, I got my arse out of bed this morning at 5:25 AM and was at the gym by 5:45 AM.
Major thanks to my friend Lars who goes to another gym, but who called me at 5:35 AM to make sure I was up and at 'em.
I ran into a friend of mine who is a part-time instructor at the WAC when I walked in. She was very encouraging and told me to take her morning class once I get back in the swing.
I took it REAL easy today, just did the elliptical for 25 minutes (2.1 miles) and then walked three laps on the track. I signed up to do Spin on Wednesday (before my slacking I did spin 1-2x a week). Keep your fingers crossed that I don't die.
Oh, and if you're wondering what "30 by 30" means, that's my new goal of losing 30 lbs by the time I turn 30: January 11, 2010. I could stand to lose a LOT more, but I figure starting with something reasonable is okay. It's not like I'm going to start stuffing my face with doritos and cookies if I surpass the goal.
What do you do to motivate yourself to go to the gym? What are some tricks to waking up really early (I'm not a morning person)?
I've been jogging in the mornings. Not as often as I should (easing into it etc.) but I make that the FIRST thing I do. I'm not allowed to eat or start my day in any way (of course I drink a bit of water if I wake up thirsty) but I FORCE myself to jog right off so that by the time I get back to the apartment I'm wide awake. I guess the ability to start my day is what I'm using as my motivator.
